Temperatures across Japan are gradually dropping and cooler days are becoming more and more common in late September!
However, in the lake Akan area where "Kamuy Lumina" is held, we better say it is cold here!

Daytime temperatures often drop below 20 degrees, and at night and early time in the morning it often drops to 4-5 degrees!

Amazing Hokkaido! Autumn arrives the earliest in Japan.

"Red leaves" are always one of the most popular features in Japan during fall.

With Hokkaido’s magnificent nature and spectacular scenery, you can tell that it is a paradise for enjoying the stunning sceneries of red leaves.

In this episode, we will introduce some cool spots to enjoy the great views in the area of lake Akan.

If you are a photography enthusiast, be sure to check it out!

The most popular spots for red leaves, Takimibashi bridge!

A 5 mins drive from the Lake Akan area will take you to Takimibashi Bridge, where the trees gradually begin to change color from the beginning of October.

Creating an autumnal scenery!

Since it is not far from the hot spring resort, many visitors come here on foot or by bicycle, making it the most popular spot for enjoying the red leaves among this area!

What a beautiful view with a waterfall in the back and the red leaves in the foreground.

You're gonna have some great photo chances!

In this area, the temperature drops dramatically in early October, so the colors of the trees change quickly everyday.

If you have time when you pass the Takimi Bridge, be sure not to miss this spectacular view!

Not only red leaves but also enjoy the wildlife on a walking trail!

Within the lake Akan area, there are many spots where you can enjoy the red leaves! In this episode, we will introduce you to the "Bokke Trail" located on the east side of the lake.

As some of you may know, this is also where the "Kamuy Lumina" event is held, and is known as a place where you can easily enjoy the deep Akan forest!

In fall, you can see many animals living in the Akan Forest "finding their food" to survive the tough cold winter.

While walking slowly along the trail, look at the branches of the trees and enjoy the sight of cute Ezo squirrels and birds busily at “work”!

The Bokke Trail is not only a walk through the Akan Forest, but also along the lakeside of lake Akan.

You can also see the sightseeing cruising slowly moving forward sometimes which is the unique scenery of Lake Akan!

At the far end of the Bokke Trail, there is a spot where you can view Mt. Oakan.

It depends on how the weather goes every year, but snowfall can be seen at the top of the mountain sometime around October or November, so if you want to capture the moment of late fall of Lake Akan, this is the place to be!

East Hokkaido, including Lake Akan, is a place where you can enjoy various hot spring resorts and activities while having a magnificent view of nature.

We hope you will visit this area and experience its charms for yourself!
