Autmn festivals in Lake Akan #3 Baked Potato Party

"In the forest around Lake Akan, where the autumn leaves are at their peak, the roads are covered with colors making it look like a beautiful carpet.
Today, we'll be introducing an autumn event of the town, the ""Baked potato party""."

Children from the town gathered for the yakiimo(baked potato) party, which was held for the first time in four years due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The grounds of the shrine, where the Akandake Shrine annual festival was held in summer, are completely covered with fallen leaves.

With brooms and rakes in hand, the children collected fallen leaves scattered around the grounds and made a big pile of colored leaves.

Potatoes are placed one after another on a rack above fire, covered with fallen leaves that everyone has collected, and then lit on fire, the potatoes are steamed.

Adults and children alike had smiles on their faces as they enjoyed the freshly baked and soft yam, which was served with butter as desired.

Sharing these seasonal pleasures together at Lake Akan, surrounded by rich nature, will be an irreplaceable memory.

Once the autumn leaves are over, Lake Akan finally begins to prepare for winter.
