Introduction to winter in lake Akan
#2 Frosty Forest
It's finally November, and events such as Halloween are over, and Lake Akan is about to enter a quiet season.
It gets cold in the mornings and evenings, and our breath often turns white.
The season has arrived where knitted sweaters and hot drinks will make you feel at ease.
Continuing from the previous post, we will take you ahead of time to winter at Lake Akan.

This time we will introduce the frosty winter forest of Akan.
The world is completely white, and although it is cold, it is a mysterious and fantastical world where you can feel a sense of warmth.
We will deliver beautiful scenery that can only be seen at this time of year.
Frozen Forest
The Bokke walking path, which is also the course of Kamuy Lumina, changes dramatically in winter and shows us a completely different world.
In the forest by Lake Akan, where the temperature can drop to nearly -30 degrees Celsius in the cold, the trees are frozen and the air is crisp.
Even so, steam rises from the river where the hot springs flow, creating a beautiful scenery.
When you breathe in the clear winter air, the cold air can freeze your nose...
How to enjoy the frosty forest
Will the walking path be closed when it snows? Some people may think so, but there are trails that can be walked even during the winter, and as long as you have the proper equipment (*), you can fully enjoy a walk in the forest.
*Snowshoes, walking skis, etc. (and of course warm clothes!)
Also, in the summer, places where you can't walk because the trees and flowers are so thick are now covered with snow and you can walk freely over it.
Being able to enjoy the forest to the fullest in winter is an exciting experience unique to the forest by the lake Akan.
Every year, the Ecomuseum Center rents out snowshoes and walking skis, so even tourists can easily rent them and enjoy them during their stay.
Wild lives in Winter
In the winter forest, the trees have shed their leaves, making it easier to spot wild lives.
The "Long tailed tit", also known as the snow fairy, is small and nimble, making it difficult to find, but one look at its adorable figure is sure to warm your heart!
Even if you can't see them, the footprints of animals are left everywhere in the snow.
Even if you can't see them, the footprints of animals are left everywhere in the snow.
One of the joys of winter is imagining what kind of animals passed or played around the spot.
What did you think?
In the forest, where the scenery has completely changed, you can fully enjoy the nature that is different from the summer.
Be sure to visit Lake Akan as the seasons change!
