Marimo Soft Serve

When you think of Lake Akan, you think of “Marimo”!

The "`Marimo of Lake Akan'', which rolls around on the bottom of the lake and becomes perfectly rounded shape with the power of nature(wind and wave), is also registered as a special natural monument of the country, and has been carefully protected by the hands of local people.

Eating soft serve ice cream named after Marimo is a gourmet experience unique to Lake Akan.

"Marimo Soft Serve" is sold at the shop at the sightseeing boat pier, "Lucky Forest Pier"

The soft-serve ice cream, which is green in color and imitated by marimo, has a matcha flavor that is popular among people overseas.

As I continued to eat it before it melted... there was a marimo inside!![SURPRIZE!]

A small marimo was hidden inside the soft serve ice cream.

“What is this?” I asked the staff in the store, and they said it was a “secret marimo” that you can eat (lol)

It's fun to try it to find out what it tastes like!

Mt.Meakan and Mt.Oakan Cream puff

The Lake Akan is located between two mountains, Mt. Oakan(mountain of male) and Mt. Meakan(mountain of female).

No sweets will fall on a mountain like this.

"Pan de Pan" in the Akanko Onsen town sells cream puffs associated with each mountain.

"Meakan Choux" has finely crushed cookie dough on top of the choux pastry, and the cream inside is a bittersweet caramel-flavored custard. It becomes.

"Oakan Choux'' is made to resemble a rocky mountain surface, and the dough is topped with plenty of crushed almonds, which gives you a good texture.



You can choose a cream puff based on the mountain you're interested in, or you can buy two and compare both of them. Please give it a try!

SHOWA retro cream soda

Last but not least, we will be introducing an old-fashioned, retro cream soda.

The town of Lake Akan retains some of the retro Showa era(1926-1989), and it's somehow feels new to the young generation of today.

You can enjoy traditional cream soda at "Mocha", a traditional cafe located in the middle of town.

Vanilla ice cream casually placed on top of yellow-green melon soda.

It's not as glamorous as a fancy parfait, but it has a retro and adorable visual.

You can scoop the ice cream with a spoon and bring it to your mouth as is, or you can dip it in soda and then bring it to your mouth.

With its retro interior, you'll feel as if you've traveled back in time.

Please enjoy the taste as well as the atmosphere of the cafe.
