It is difficult to leave the bed in winter mornings, but winter is the time when you should wake up early and take a step outside!
In the morning, the shores of Lake Akan are enveloped in silence, and you can feel the freezing air throughout your body.
When the temperature drops below freezing, you can feel your nose freeze and your lungs fill with cool and clear air.
▼Scenery unique to the hot spring town
At the entrance of the Bokke nature trail that we introduced in the previous articles, there is a river with hot springs flowing through it, and if you visit there on a chilly morning, the water vapor that clings to the trees will freeze, giving you a beautiful pure white view.
The sight of the morning sun shining through the steam rising from the river is also magical. It's good to take a short walk in the morning when you wake up early.
▼Wild lives active in the winter morning
The animals are active from the morning. On this day, two Eurasian red squirrels were flying between the trees, and a black woodpecker was busy poking at the trees.
I looked at it for a while, and it stopped moving every now and then, as if it were carving while checking the progress of the work. It is no wonder that the Ainu people called Kumatera ``Chiputachi Kapu Kamuy'' (God who carves ships).
